So most of you probably know I like to donate to the HSC underground parking fund by going there frequently under the guise of getting cancer treatments. Today is an update of my progress.
-I donated $10, and all I had to do was wait forever in a waiting room, followed by a second room disguised as a doctor's office but what is secretly another waiting room.
As for the irrelevant details of my health, things are looking good. Given that I had four possible outcomes of Tuesday's MRI:
A) "It's a miracle! The tumour is completely gone!"
B) "Things are looking better than before"
C) "Things look exactly the same as before", and
D) "Don't go booking any trips without getting cancellation insurance"
... I'm pretty happy with the result. As with all multiple choice tests, the answer was "B". The miracle would have been nice, but perhaps next time? As I've explained before, should the 'miracle' option fail, I just have to live long enough for better treatments to be invented and all should go well.
So now I'm on a new treatment plan which involves... MORE PILLS! I'll now be up to 20 pills per day (at the most) along with my nightly injection. I know they say "Stay in school, don't do drugs" (or at least they used to) but in my case I'm better taking them.
I'm still on a streak of not having a headache in over two months or so now (something I couldn't even say in my pre-brain tumour days). As I said, I'm still on the blood thinners, a result of having something the doctors call "tiger blood" *. So as of next Wednesday phase two of my treatment begins on 28 day cycles with MRI's being scheduled every 12 weeks. I promise to update you all as things go along. I still face the ongoing threat of spontaneous blood clots that could kill me at any moment, not to mention Winnipeg Transit busses and runaway trains being chased by Denzel Washington (the usual threats we all face on a daily basis). But it is all something I take with a grain of salt (and temozolomide, dalteparin, dexamethasone, ranitidine, dilantin, metoclopramide, septra, and now accutane)
I still haven't managed to finish my take home Mid-Term exam for economics which is stressing me out a tad. Despite not caring what grades I get this term (so long as I pass and receive my degree in April), you'd be surprised at how hard it is for a nerd like me to submit sub-par work!
The social is still on track for Friday March the 18th! Contact me if you still need tickets eh? Remember I'm marrying an Irish girl (she has an O-apostrophe in her last name if you couldn't tell), and the social is the day after St. Patrick's day. And her favourite colour is green. So it'll be the most St. Patrick's Day Themed Wedding Social you've ever been to (unless you've been to one where the bride or groom was a leprechaun?) The social prizes will be awesome, the drinks will contain alcohol, and there will be cold cut meats of questionable quality. What more could you ask for?
We will also be donating all of the proceeds from the evening's 50/50 draw to CancerCare Manitoba, as well as accepting donations at the event. With your help we can prevent other people from having to pay those exorbitant underground parking fees.
CHEERS!!!
